Reflection on oral presentation

I was quite nervous at first because my previous presentation did not receive well.I tried to improve by writing out everything  I need to say and practice in front of an mirror.( I was practicing in a school toilet since I do not have a large mirror at home and was afraid of people coming in suddenly. They may think I was crazy...⊙﹏⊙b)

I felt more confident than last time but when I stood in front of the class,I knew nervous may not be something controllable ╮(╯_╰)╭. My did not pronounce very accurately and had to stop to repeat here and there. But then, something saved me. Yes, that's the camera!\(^o^)/~ It kept having problems like no battery, no memory, and so on. However, I calmed down while waiting for the problems to be solved.(Ms Lim apologized for keep me waiting but I actually wanted to say thank you to the camera...)

So when I started presenting again, I was quite calm and I could feel that I was doing better and better.I was trying to show my hand gestures and I hope they did not appear too little. The time control was better this time and I stopped at around 10 seconds later when Calvin signaled time out.( I felt like answering "yes" at that time.)

Ally's presentation actually inspired me and I feel her voice and tone were quite suitable for our topic, too.I might have also learned from the others here and there unconsciously. So a big thank you to you all~

  1. Hi Lixian!

Wow, honoured that my presentation has inspired you! (^~^) I think we all improve by learning from each other! :)

Haha and I did notice that you were a lot calmer the 2nd time after the camera problem. And this time your presentation was smoother than the peer teaching session! I guess practise really does pay off :) I think you could work on the variation of tone next time round so that you can catch the attention of the audience. Though I know that presenting a report/research paper is kind of different from what we did during class.

Jiayou and good job done!! :)

  2. Hi!

Indeed, the second time you were more calm and composed, so kudos to the camera! On a side note, I think a good tip is to think of it just like how you're talking to your peers. It would definitely help you speak a lot more fluently and have a smoother flow. Don't be discouraged by past failures but keep striving ahead to further improve yourself! Cheers

  3. Hi Lixian

You are indeed very nervous for the 1st try! Luckily you get to have the second chance of starting again, which most people don't really get a second chance in life. I am glad that you are able to make full use of that chance. The hand gesture was okay, not too much. Learning skill from other presentation is good, keep doing that and you will a very good speaker in time to come!

  4. Firstly, my apologies for having to stop you from presenting. It was the camera, but you did react well to the situation at hand. Everyone needs practice and no one is perfect right at the first try.

I have to agree that Ally did quite well for her part and projected herself well during her presentation. =)
